How does CO2 Laser work?

The Pixel CO2 laser operates in two modes: Continuous and fractional. The Continuous mode, also known as surgical mode, is effective for cutting or ablating skin lesions and outgrowths, completely removing the tissue required to eliminate the lesion and allowing for wound healing. On the other hand, fractional CO2 mode is particularly beneficial for aesthetic or cosmetic concerns. As the name suggests, this mode delivers laser pulses in a fractional pattern, leaving fractions of normal tissue between them. These fractionated laser beams penetrate deeper skin layers, creating multiple microthermal zones (MTZ) in a fractional pattern. The surrounding normal skin aids in healing the MTZ tissue by shedding old damaged skin and replacing it with new skin. Therefore, fractional CO2 laser treatments typically have less downtime and faster tissue healing compared to continuous CO2 laser treatments.
